It's generally a good idea to mention what version of the XCode Tools
you have installed, because sometimes this makes a difference.  I
don't think so in this case, however.

However, you never mentioned what version of KDE you were trying to
install, nor even what package was failing.  the maintainer has put
out a new revision of kdebase3 recently, so you may just need to
selfupdate.
