Hello Benjamin,

many thanks for the help!

The great news: The new xine seems to work with amarok on my machine, but only
with esd.

The bad news (for me): It does not work with coreaudio - the output is corrupted (it
sounds completely wrong).

Since I use a high quality musician soundcard with 4 mono channels, I cannot use it
with esd, since the esd CoreAudio output implementation supports only 2 channel
stereo devices.

I already had a look at CoreAudio AUHAL AudioUnits (Apple's documentation is really
weak!).

What would you suggest: Looking at fixing xine CoreAudio output, or trying to refactor
esd to use AUHALs (which can map 2 mono channels to 1 stereo channel)?

Best wishes
-Pete-
