You can set it to black or whatever your current color is.   
"mathomatic -c" runs it that way. You can also try something like  
"xterm -bg darkblue -e mathomatic" as a startup line. There is also  
a  "set bold" command for when the green is hard to read. On my  
screen "set bold" makes the text harder to read.
