Compilers are generated through earlier compiler versions, of course. :-) Our g95 is derived from the gcc4.0.3 sources, and was built using the system's 4.0.1 (or earlier) compiler. It's the same deal when you build gcc4.2 (e.g. for gfortran). I don't know whether that's the cause of your problem, though. -- Alexander K.
