Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated. I did the update and I have got the 0.27.3 version now. Unfortunately I had a look at the Fink website regarding the bioperl-pm588 package but was unable to retrieve it. There is only a bioperl-pm586 package available as source that is mentionned to be stable on OSX 10.5... jlj
