Actually, it IS a space - I hadn't noticed.
my /usr directory contains (among other things)
/usr/X11
/usr/X11R6 (link to /usr/X11)
/usr/X11R6 1
I don't know why that is, but I have had X11 installed on this system
all along.
It's an Intel MacBook, bought summer 2006
gcc version is:
i686-apple-darwin9-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5465)
I can open an xterm with no problems.
