The configure script finds X in /usr/X11.  That directory has the GL 
subdirectory, and I'm content with using it so long as it works.


I fooled with the make system to get it to include /usr/X11 explicitly on the 
compile line and that didn't work.  I'm not sure what is going on because it 
acts like Glut can't figure out where the system GL library is, and after 
Alexander's question I'm not even sure what should happen.


I've searched for other packages which depend on X11 to use as examples, but I 
haven't had an ah-ha moment in a while.
