It could be worth pointing out that there are "unoffical" fink binary  
distributions. At this point, I can only come up with one link:

This has been provided by William Scott, and is geared towards  
scientific computing. Although it's not an official binary  
distribution, I think it's a good idea. I personally haven't used it,  
but I thought it shoudn't go unmentioned. There used to be an  
unofficial binary distribution by the Todai fink team, but it appears  
to have disappeared (correct me if I'm wrong).
