Your internet connection is absolutely irrelevant here, because you're 
removing a package that is on the machine.  Try running "top" to see 
what's going on.

If you're concerned, go ahead and stop Fink Commander, and then try 
running "dpkg -l emacs21" in a terminal window.  That will tell you what 
the status of the package really is.  It may have been removed and Fink 
Commander just got lost in updating its table.
