I have never been able to get beyond those two choices with the gtk version used by gnucash at the moment. However, it may print, even to a non postcript printer, if you use that option. Gnucash and gnome send out postscript to the mac system which does whatever it needs to do to send the file on to your default system printer. It works at least for some printers because I have printed checks from gnucash to my definitely-non-postscript inkjet. I also haven't seen a failed pdf when preview had it right. What mac system are you using? The good news is that the Great Fink Gnome Update (pending for quite some time, and looking like it might get released in the next several weeks) will solve the printer dialog problems. Before then, you'll just have to try workarounds for gnome printing oddities.
