Martin,

As I recall, Admin had read and execute, all others had only read.  I simply did a chmod 777 against these two files.

Regards,

Michael

I'm trying to install fink for the first time on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.4 with XTools 3.0 installed already.  I've had a little experience with Linux, and I'm new to Mac.

I downloaded the sources successfully, su to root, but when I tried the "./bootstrap" command, I got "permission denied".  I changed the permissions on "bootstrap", and got a little farther

None of this permission-changing should be necessary. For ./bootstrap, you changed the permissions from what to what?
