Title: No title
Martin,

You were right, permission problems, thanks for your help.  I'm up and running now.  When I downloaded the fink gz file, a compression utility called Zipeg automatically uncompressed the archive.  It must not set ownership as tar would, so I rm -r the /sw directory, untarred the archive, and all was well, no permission problems.

Now I'm having problems installing kexi, the list of dependencies was hundreds long, and I can't get ruby to install (one of the hundreds of dependencies, I know not why), always getting the error on ruby18-1.8.6-p111-1.

Such is life!

Many thanks,

Michael Hund

Martin,

As I recall, Admin had read and execute, all others had only read.  I simply did a chmod 777 against these two files.

Then I think something must have gone wrong when you unpacked the tar.gz, because when I look at

tar tvf /Misc_Sources/fink-0.28.1.tar.gz |grep bootstrap

I see permissions 755 on fink-0.28.1/bootstrap.
