Hi all, after searching the FAQ, wiki and other places, I still do ont get why fink will not install on my brand-new macbook pro. I downloaded the fink-0.8.1-intel-installer and started the installer dmg-file. After the license acceptance, i get the error message that fink can not be installed because it needs OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or newer.
As I said before, the system is brand-new, I did not mess around with anything. I only installed some other applications before. Additionally, I downloaded the X11-2.2.1.pkg from Xquartz which did not help. However, I wondered whether the problem could be due to a general error on the system as i got an error message installing openoffice saying it could not provide a package acknowledgement or sth like this (OO is still functional, though). I also do not have a /usr/local directory existing. Since I have no experience with Mac OS at all so far, I do not know how to resolve this issue. I have not tried yet to compile from source, anyhow, I think the error message from fink is either misleading (because i obviously HAVE OS X 10.5.2) or pointing to a general problem which I am not capable to detect. Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards Marco P.S.: Have I missed a beginner's intro in the wiki that deals with issues like that or is it not existing? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
