Hi Daniel - Thank you. Learning as I go. I thought those exports were "cut-and-paste" lines into a header. I tried to install sane-backends-dev via Fink Commander. I get this error: Reading Package Lists... Building Dependency Tree... Failed: can't batch-install packages: /sw/fink/dists/stable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system/ xfree86_4.5.0-1045_darwin-powerpc.deb /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system/ xfree86-shlibs_4.5.0-1045_darwin-powerpc.deb So I tried to install xfree86 standalone and get this error: ERROR: /etc/X11 exists, but is not a symlink to /usr/X11R6/etc. /sw/bin/dpkg: error processing xfree86 (--install): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: xfree86 ### execution of /sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait failed, exit code 1 Failed: can't install package xfree86-4.5.0-1045 I read FAQ Q7.2, but it seems out-of-date. though probably still germane. These are obviously problems you didn't have.
