When i run fink list -o
this is what I get get:
(i) cairo 1.6.4-2 Vector graphics library
(i) cairo-shlibs 1.6.4-2 Vector graphics library
(i) gperiodic 2.0.10-2 Displays a periodic table of the elements

When I do a "fink update-all" I get the same error message as before:

This only happens on the intel machine. I have a iBook running basically the same thing and it is has no issues. The iBook installation of Fink is at least a year old. The intel version is only a few weeks old. A few week ago Fink was running fine, but the I had to reinstall OS X, and since the reinstall I have been having issues with Fink. Other than that, everything has been wonderful.

That would be because both depend on cairo, too. The ultimate package
you're trying to install shouldn't affect the build process of the
dependencies, by design.

The output transcript definitely shows an explicit reference to
/sw/lib/fontconfig2/lib/libfontconfig.1.3.0.dylib . Were there any
packages listed as outdated? There may be a missing versioned
dependency here.

I am hoping someone can help me. I am trying to install abiword but I am have trouble with cairo not compiling. Below is part of the error message I receive. Any help that can fix this problem would be looked upon kindly. My machine is a late 2008 MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz and 4GB RAM running 10.5.6 with the latest patches and XQuartz 2.3.2.1 with XCode 3.1.2 if that helps any.

I'm not sure it's related, but in what order did you install Xcode and
XQuartz? If you do Xcode after XQuartz that can cause problems, due
to changes Apple made in the former. In that case you would want to
reinstall XQuartz.

It looks like something that is being incorporated in the cairo build
thinks you have the binary distribution's version of fontconfig2-shlibs,
but you don't. It might be worth seeing the compiler output just before
what you've posted to help debug that further.

Also, if you happen to have any outdated packages (e.g. from "fink list
-o") perhaps updating them first may clear this up.
