Hmm, but how can I force psync to use Fink's Perl instead of Leopard's?

No difference.

Maybe the only way is either to wait for a bugfix from Apple or to do
these curious hacks described in the links. However, they require expert
knowledge that I do not have.

Command-line hacks are also insufficient since I want to use the
PsyncX.app where one can set pre-defined backups which prevent nasty and
fatal errors from simple typos in typed commands and paths. But my hope
was that one can Fink's Perl version as a bypass (by changing some paths
in that App).

In case that psync won't ever work again - do you know a good replacement
for backups? The tool should make a 1:1 bootable clone with all user
rights and hidden files being copied correctly.

I am thinking Carbon Copy Cloner, but I haven't made a long backup with it
yet. I'll have to check whether it preserves all file attributes. As an
incremental backup, rdiff-backup would also be an option, but I don't know
whether it backups really everything with all file attributes, and not
just does an incremantal cp.

Anyway, getting psync or PsyncX working again would be my preferred goal.

Best wishes,

Ingo
