The fact that you're trying ultimately to install grace doesn't matter

It's hard to say without a bit more information. You might try
removing the existing libmpfr1 package via "fink remove libmpfr1", in
case that's somehow interfering with the update.
If that doesn't work, then start at the line where it says
make check-TESTS
and post the test results
