VERY LATE to reply to this, but yes, two years after your post I'm also
experiencing this problem... I usually do abcde from my linux box because I
find doing it in fink less comfortable (must close iTunes and use diskutils
unmountdisk after inserting the CD).

me thinks the problem is in cd-discid, not in abcde... I'm doing some tests
with a disk I just bought...

on my linux box (Debian unstable iMac G3) cd-discid computes this line:
af09bc0d 13 150 5746 21363 30465 53061 69840 84564 100299 121212 125762 141761
158858 164852 2494
if abcde uses this on a cddb-tools query, it gets a usable answer.

on my macosx 10.4 macbook the result is:
c64e880d 13 150 -602603370 -581828458 1802895510 -1345453930 974127510
-1102511722 898040214 -422051434 -1393950314 724107926 -194313578 1585644182
17190538

which is not making any sense... the cddb server replies:
500 Command syntax error.
it disputable if this really describes the problem... the values after that
'13' (number of tracks) have to indicate sectors and the last one the length of
the disc in seconds. using negative numbers where sector numbers are expected
can be seen as a syntax error...

so something has to be done in cd-discid...

anybody knows about the status of that program?
