I'm using OSX 10.4.11 on a Macbook Core 2 Duo.

Unfortunately, it seems that I am unable to selfupdate with rsync or
cvs (I believe it's the network firewall. A bit unusual since I don't
have any problems rsyncing into my work computers from here). Can you
guide me through how I would update the package descriptions manually?

FinkCommander lists tetex-base as 3.0-1002 (3.0-1001 binary). However,
it is not installed. I was a bit confused on what or why tetex-base
was. I have already installed MacTeX on this computer. The multitudes
of ways to do one thing are causing me a great deal of confusion.

Thank you for your patience. I'm a bit clueless.
