Hi all,

my attempt to install wine on this OS X 10.4.11 Intel machine from sources
has been a nightmare. Even though my connection is reasonably fast and
reliable, there was a download failure every couple of minutes. I had to
keep watching for hours, making dozens of dozens of manual choices, until
everything was downloaded (I switched to interactive mode, because
downloads were given up by Fink Commanders automatic mode too soon).

Most of the failures reported a 404 "file not found" error; some "Unknown
host" errors and some (consistently) wrong downloads also occurred.

Is not every mirror supposed to mirror the whole repository? If the
problem is just my mirror list being outdated, how do I update it and how
do I avoid it becoming outdated so badly again?

Thanks for any help.

(Even though the downloads were successful at the very end, wine is still
not built, but that is a different issue described in my other mail.)
