You could make a separate package description for 10.4 (e.g.
cadabra-10.4.info, with a 10.4 Distribution tag, and cadabra.info tagged
with Distribution: 10.5, 10.6).  That's probably better than saddling
10.5 and 10.6 with 10.4-isms. :-)

There shouldn't be a performance impact.  What the stripping does is to
have the linker not link to libraries that don't actually export symbols
that are needed by the lib/executable in question.  For Fink's purposes,
that cuts down on the dependency list, since dyld complains about any
missing library as noted in 'otool -L' without respect to whether it's
actually necessary or not, which expands the dependencies.
