If you have the unstable tree enabled at this point, these messages indicate that you have not run a selfupdate-rsync or selfupdate-cvs yet. Without doing that, you won't download the unstable package descriptions. > / > /I went back to the finkproject website and located the socnetv-mac > description > (http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/socnetv-mac?rel_id=10.5-i386-current-unstable) > , but I don't know what to do from there (should it be downloaded, where > from, etc.). / > > /Another possibility is that I don't have access to unstable files, > because at one point, I got the following lines: > > --------------------------- > > Re-executing fink to use the new version... > Scanning package description files.......... > Information about 2519 packages read in 1 seconds. > W: Couldn't stat source package list file: unstable/main Packages > (/sw/var/lib/apt/lists/_sw_fink_dists_unstable_main_binary-darwin-i386_Packages) > - stat (2 No such file or directory) > W: Couldn't stat source package list file: unstable/crypto Packages > (/sw/var/lib/apt/lists/_sw_fink_dists_unstable_crypto_binary-darwin-i386_Packages) > - stat (2 No such file or directory) > W: Couldn't stat source package list file: unstable/main Packages > (/sw/var/lib/apt/lists/_sw_fink_dists_unstable_main_binary-darwin-i386_Packages) > - stat (2 No such file or directory) > W: Couldn't stat source package list file: unstable/crypto Packages > (/sw/var/lib/apt/lists/_sw_fink_dists_unstable_crypto_binary-darwin-i386_Packages) > - stat (2 No such file or directory) > These messages refer to packages built from the unstable tree on _your machine_. "fink scanpackages" will quiet them. They also indicate that unstable is turned on. > -------------------------------------------------------- > > Eventhough when I was asked in a previous step if I wanted to activate > unstable tree, I said yes: > > ----------------------------------------------------------- > > The "unstable" tree does not appear to be activated in your fink now. At this point you shouldn't need to worry about it, though. Running "fink selfupdate-rsync" or "fink selfupdate-cvs" after turning on unstable, as I said to do in my initial message as well as above, should suffice to make socnet-mac or socnet visible to you. -- Alexander Hansen Fink User Liaison ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Palm PDK Hot Apps Program offers developers who use the Plug-In Development Kit to bring their C/C++ apps to Palm for a share of $1 Million in cash or HP Products.
