Removing Fink shouldn't be necessary.  You just have a relatively minor
package glitch.

What exactly do you mean by "the same error", since you quoted two
separate errors?

If you're referring to autoconf2.6, try not using apt-get, but instead
use "fink install autoconf2.6".  You may find that "update-all" keeps
breaking down, because you have a relatively large list of packages to
update and they'll require swapping of some build dependencies.  In that
case, you can get to the same place by updating individual packages.

If you're referring to the ability to remove xml-sax-expat-pm588 and
xml-sax-pm588, that's a different matter, since you _should_ have a
perl5.8.8 executable now.
