Actually, "fink list" is one of the few fink commands where prefixing 
with sudo does make sense, namely for avoiding the annoying message

Fink has detected that your package index cache is missing or out of 
date, but does not have privileges to modify it. Re-run fink
as root, for example with a "fink index" command, to update the cache.

Personally, I think this message is a bug in fink, it should either ask 
if one wants to run index or just do it and ask for the password.
