That's outdated, all right.  Xcode 4.1 should give

$ clang -v
Apple clang version 2.1 (tags/Apple/clang-163.7.1) (based on LLVM 3.0svn)

I'd recommend doing a clean removal of your current Xcode Tools by running

/Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools

and (re)install Xcode 4.1 either through the App Store or via
connect.apple.com .
