There's not much we can do about Gatekeeper I'm afraid. That's kind of outside the scope of an open source project. Since users have to build the apps themselves from source, each user would need to get a developer ID and sign it themselves. If users want to use such apps they'll just have to allow the use of unsigned apps. That's one of the Gatekeeper options. That defeats the whole purpose of Gatekeeper of course, but it's just fundamentally incompatible with open source software.
