I'm running OS 10.6.8 and Xcode Version 3.2.2 (1650) I think have successfully installed fink 0.35.1
I ran the command "fink selfupdate-rsync" without any problems But when I try "fink install xtide", I get the following error message checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking whether the C++ compiler works... no configure: error: in `/sw/src/fink.build/xtide-2.13.2-1/xtide-2.13.2': configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details ### execution of ./configure failed, exit code 77 ### execution of /tmp/fink.PaIbE failed, exit code 77 I found FAQ 6.11 on the fink website which suggested that error message means that fink can't find /Library/Receipts/DevSDK.pkg. I checked and the file is not there. So I installed XCode 3.2.2 from the original DVD that came with computer (I had originally downloaded and installed Xcode 3.2.6 from Apple's website). Still get the same error message I cannot find a config.log file anywhere on the computer I also tried running /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl , thinking that maybe fink hadn't noticed when I re-installed xcode. This produced the following: Checking system... i386-apple-darwin10.8.0 This version of fink supports bootstrapping under Mac OS X 10.6, as well as upgrading from 10.5. However, DIRECT UPGRADING FROM 10.4 OR EARLIER IS NOT SUPPORTED. can't write temporary file: Permission denied at /sw/lib/perl5/Fink/Config.pm line 615. Sounds like maybe I haven't given fink enough permissions somewhere and that is causing the compiler error message as well? I would appreciate any help/advice.
