Thank you so much for the prompt reply.
Also thank you so much for your valuable tip. I have been struggling  
with this challenge since the previous wekend.
Only after wipe out Macports I managed to install BioPerl. The  
commenting out strategy (#) by modifying the .profile did not work,  
perhaps it will solve the incompatibility problem before installing  
the Macports again in my next attempt. But I'm very satisfied as it is.
