Worked for me on libsndfile.

No it doesn't seem to. I applied the patch on x86 Linux and created 
the source tarball. It caused no problems on Linux or Sparc Solaris
and fixes my compile problem on OSX. Thats a win-win situation as 
far as I can see.

Great program! It would be nice to have that on OS X.
