max i updated to the cvs version of the package manager wand was of course courious what the fink cleanup command does. i have missed the discussion how it should be implemented and what kind of options it should have, and i couldn't find any help on it.
from the cvs: "added first version of a 'fink cleanup' command - still needs work, but already saved me 1.7 GB" so what i have noticed: it removes all .deb files which are out of date (a newer version of this package can be built) i didn't have any old sources, so i can't tell whether it removes old sources as well. here's what i would like a cleanup command to do fink cleanup (cleanup everything: old sources, ols .debs, even if the new ones are not yet built, ie only a new .info file exists. ask for confirmation) fink cleanup -s (or something like that. cleanup old sources only, leave all the .deb files) fink cleanup -o (can someone think of a better option than -o... remove .deb files only if a newer is already built on the system) i'm asking for the second as for some packages it takes hours or to compile and sometimes is just used to satisfy a dependency. for example i didn't feel like building mozilla-1.0rc3-1 just to install for example nautilus or galeon or whatever but reinstalled the old (outdated) mozilla-0.9.somewhat. sometimes problems occur after a update-all and it can be helpful to try a --force-downgrade to see what causes the problem. after a fink cleanup no old .deb file would exist anymore. what do you think? is than reasonable? thank you very much, sorry for any inconvenience mathias _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas - http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm?source=osdntextlink _______________________________________________ Fink-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-devel
