(Torrey, I'm cc'ing fink-devel just so people know what's going on.)

Folks, if you're interested in trying out the new XFree86 snapshot, I've got an info file in my experimental tree, and I can make .deb's available too if people want to help Torrey test.

Note that I am *not* the XFree86 maintainer in Fink, I am just helping Torrey out with some testing. Please don't inundate Jeffrey Whitaker with bugs for a package he has not made. =)

Woohoo! It looks like all the bugs you have been reporting are finally fixed.

- 16-bit color works. Thank Apple for this one. (There is still one rare crasher, but I'll be fixing that in a day or two.)
Yup, I can confirm this. Although, hrm. It appears my system just totally locked on me. :P Not sure if that's a KDE issue or an X issue. Rebooting now to see if I can reproduce.

- The weird transparent parts of windows is fixed.
YES!!!!!!!!!

KDE built against 4.2.1.1 looks fine in 4.2.99.4 now. I ran it in "millions" mode before the freeze with "thousands" up above...

Thank you so much. =)

- GLX libraries were shown to have a multithreading bug which was fixed. This may fix many of the problems we were observing.
Do you recall what I was trying to run that crashed? I'm totally blanking on it now so I can't think of what to try testing with.

Check it out, beat on it and let me know if you still have any problems. Oh... there may still be problem which causes XDarwin to build incorrectly on 10.1.x. I'll be looking into this, but 10.2 should be good to go.
Rock on, Torrey, thinks are looking good.

Only thing that's left as far as I'm concerned is the mysterious crash, but it locked so hard I can't even get a crash log.

Also, fonts built against libXft 1.1 are not antialiased, but I haven't checked yet if that's just because Fink removed XftConfig when I uninstalled 4.2.1.1. If I can't get AA fonts working with a copied XftConfig, I'll let you know, otherwise assume it's OK. (I expect that's the issue.)

Thanks again for all the hard work, looks like X 4.2.99 is really shaping up.
