Well the drawbacks of this approach (compared to the advantages you list):Actually, Max, Drm and Benjamin will have to make a decision. I would much prefer, that people do not post to the fink-devel list, but send the announcement to me. After I have verified the information in the Mail and maybe even talked to the author I would pass it on to one of you lead developers. That way we can a) avoid big discussions and b) one dedicated person can guarantee that the announcement will be taken care off. (namely me).
Two bottlenecks instead of one (first you, then the three admins). So that can mean that it first takes several hours for you to process the thing (e.g. because you are at sleep / at work etc.), then you send it to us three, but for some reasons now we are busy (again at work or sleeping or away for other reasons)...
Also, I actually like it to get feedback from more persons. Mind you, we don't have to follow it always, but more people add more views on a situation.
I don't see the problem with first posting the stuff on fink-devel. We can still say that you then are the official first reviewer, and you can integrate any other feedback other people get, and then forward it to drm/rr/me. And in the past we had rarely "big discussions" on announced announcements, and if we had them, then usually with good reasons.
This way, the core team would actually be aware of the announcement *before* it is sent, and not surprised by it...
Cheers,
Max
