I added some 'groups' to the fink package submission tracker. Please set the field when you modify a submission tracker item. It will let us track the state of the tracker easier by allowing people to see which items have not been touched.
This change looks like it would accomplish most of what I was hoping to do with an alternate index to the package submissions. So, I'll stop working on that and start working on a couple more fink packages. I did learn a lot about perl, php and mysql while working on the alternate index, so it certainly wasn't a waste of my time.
We will need someone to at least set new tracker items to the Undergoing Validation group because there is no way to search or sort on the 'None' group.
I would be willing to help out with this if wanted. I subscribed to the package tracker list when I started working on my alternate index, so I could go change the group on new submissions if the system will let me.
When a submitter updates the item, they might not change the group. So if you get an update from someone please change that field back to 'Undergoing Validation' which means the item is ready for someone to check it out.
Could the automatic e-mail that submitter's get when there has been a comment made to their submission be modified so that it also reminds them to set the group to 'Undergoing Validation' when they make a response?
I am encouraged to see that the list of open package submissions has gotten a fair bit shorter in the last week.
And thanks to Matthias Neeracher for helping me get fplan-nox added to fink.
