I tried the system-ghostscript8 package from 10.2-gcc3.3 on 10.3 - I even installed iinstaller and the ghostscript8 ipackage. The system-ghostscript8 package installs OK. I even installs when its version is 8.00, although the gs version installed with the iinstaller is 8.13. There is a /usr/local/share/ghostscript/8.00 directory installed besides the 8.13 directory.

But, there is a problem:

The PostInstScript gives a warning

84 fonts found
52 were standard PostScript fonts
6 were Ghostscript fonts
-------------------------------------------------------
I couldn't extract font names for 26 fonts in
this directory. This means the font file had a non-standard
format which this program doesn't know about or cannot do
anything with. Check the README file to find out more.

The fonts in question are Hershey fonts that have *.gsf and *.pfa files.

When gs is then used, for example in texmacs or during the compilation of the doxygen package or just by running "gs" at the command line, it fails with

Unrecoverable error: rangecheck in get
Operand stack:
      hrsyr.gsf 0

This hrsyr.gsf is one of those Hershey fonts.

If one removes the ghostscript-fonts part of the system-ghostscript8 package and installs the Fink ghostscript-fonts package, everything seems to work OK.
