I think this has been noticed before, but it hasn't been fixed:
Right now, fink selfupdate fails for people in Europe when it tries to download fink-0.20.2.tar.gz, because it uses eu.dl.sourceforge.net, and instead of the tarball this mirror sends an html file saying:
The mirror you've selected, belnet.dl.sourceforge.net does not currently have the file you requested. (This is an error on our part which will be fixed). You are requesting file: /fink/fink-0.20.2.tar.gz Please select a mirror
and so on. Fink then stops with the (useless) choice:
The checksum of the file fink-0.20.2.tar.gz of package fink-0.20.2-1 is
incorrect. The most likely cause for this is a corrupted or incomplete
download
Expected: 7f0dac6494d58d3e513d6fbe704c387c Actual: ba9368242031feaacdbabddde1d56ad6 It is recommended that you download it again. How do you want to proceed?
(1) Give up (2) Delete it and download again (3) Assume it is a partial download and try to continue (4) Don't download, use existing file
Fink should give another choice (5) Try a different mirror.
Right now, the only way out is to modify the fink.conf file to use a different continent or to use MirrorOrder: MasterFirst.
