It is due to the fact that a number of pkgs install scripts beginning with
#!/currently/active/perl


# egrep -rI '\#\! */sw/bin/perl' /sw/{{s,}bin,libexec}>/tmp/lst; wc -l /tmp/lst
124 /tmp/lst
