    Mike Stump at Apple said he would be happy to look at the patches
we have been applying to see if they should be addressed in the gcc
trunk. Unfortunately no one at Apple seems to have time to set up
a regress machine so it is impossible to monitor status of the
macintel builds that way. I view this problem as taking your lumps
now or later. We certainly can wait and hope that when gcc 4.2
branches there aren't major issues on Macintel. However since we 
have decided to place gcc 4.2 snapshots in fink, it seems better
to try to leverage that into discovering and reporting problems
in gcc trunk on Macintel and darwin in general. I'll see if I
can at least coax the Apple gcc developers to build on Macintel
once a month and post to gcc-testresults so we can have some
idea of what they think builds and passes.
