cvs vs. rsync isn't relevant here: they're different ways of downloading the same package information file. Nothing jumped out at me on this--but one thing you might try is doing a clean reinstall of XCode 2.3 if you upgraded it in place over the 2.0 install. Sometimes old stuff gets left behind and produces compiler confusion. The /Developer/Tools/uninstall-devtools.pl script will clean it out. -- Alexander K.
