archimedes compiles without any problem on a powerpc machine. Mine has not enough cpu to make the tests in a reasonable time though.

new version is serie 8.xx and written in java. The upstream team delivers a jar file either source or binary. The source jar file works right out of the box on Mac OS X, so is it necessary to have it under Fink?

Could also advantageously reemplace qcad.
