It appears that lesstif is currently without a
maintainer. I would like to take it over and
update it with the proposed lesstif-0.95.0-1
packaging on fink tracking. I revised this
new packaging last night to utilize all of the
existing fixes from the debian -2.1 release of
the same package. As I mentioned before, we do
have an issue with the newer lesstif. The current
lesstif release no longer support Motif 1.2.
This means that the lesstif packages will lose
those shared and static libraries. However, since
the existing lesstif package already defaults to the
Motif 2.1 release for development purposes,
this (while violating fink policy) should cause
no actual breakage.
If there is a demand for a depreciated and
unsupported Motif 1.2 from fink users, we
could create a lesstif1 package that only
builds the Motif 1.2 support. However, since
there are no security fixes provided for
such the older depreciated Motif 1.2 support
in lesstif, it really doesn't sound like
a very good idea to me.
