The only problem with xcode-3.1 I know of is with X11. The X11SDK.pkg
from xcode-3.1 has some incompatibilities with the rest of Leopard's
X11. So if you manage to install xcode-3.1 without installing its
X11SDK.pkg, it should be OK. I don't remember if this is possible by
unselecting X11 in the custom install window. If not, try to find your
xcode-3.0 disk image and look for its X11SDK.pkg, so that you can
reinstall it after the installation of xcode-3.1.

Another possibility is to install the latest xquartz/macosforge X11
update after the installation of xcode-3.1.

I hope Apple will find a solution to this problem soon, but right now it
is a nuisance that breaks compiling a couple of Fink packages.

Otherwise, anyone running selfupdate+update-all after the Big Fink
Update of last Tuesday is in for a *big* update. Sometimes even if you
update only one package, you have to expect an update cascade of 100 or
more packages. We are trying to reduce the number of unnecessary builds,
but in any case it will be *big*. This MacBook pro I am writing on
needed a couple of hours to finish, but on an iMac G5/1.8GHz I am still
waiting for the update-all to finish (after 3 days, with breaks due to
restarts of update-all and sleep breaks of the administrator).
