Hi Sjors, may I ask how you arrived at exactly that list? There many many more packages which depend on libjpeg instead of libjpeg8. Maybe those packages are the ones that are used by KDE / Qt ? BTW, I would appreciate if we could keep each subject on its own thread, in particular, the discussion of issues with your dpkg and apt variants should be lead in a separate thread.
