Just for fun, I converted the dists module from cvs to git with cvs2git and put
it on github to experiment with. It's at https://github.com/danielj7/fink-dists
but be warned that I've already deleted and replaced it several times today as
I refined the process. It still needs .gitignore files to be made from
.cvsignore and maintainers might want to change their names and email
addresses. I just used the sf.net ones. Checking out from svn _does_ work too.
This isn't official or anything so don't rely on it yet.

BTW, converting with cvs2git (from the cvs2svn package) works very well and is
several orders of magnitude faster than git cvsimport. It takes me less than 10
minutes to do the conversion. Also, the consensus around the internets seems to
be that cvs2git is more reliable.
