Jack, Thanks for all the tips and step by step instructions. The /sw_old was useful indeed to get the list of fink packages and also when I moved to Lion, xemacs was not available in fink for 10.7 and I had to launch the one in /sw_old for a while. Now that xemacs is back (almost, some issues I haven't solved yet with my own setup which does not work exactly as before), I have (just) removed /sw_old. I will rebuild /sw though as soon as my urgent matters are settled.
