David, I have checked in libjpeg9-9-2 which adds the boolean patch as libjpeg9.patch from MacPorts. This eliminates the compile errors when trying to migrate packages from libjpeg8 to libjpeg9. For example, both molmol and libtiff5-shlibs can be built against the fixed libjpeg9 whereas they previously produced compile errors of the form described in https://trac.macports.org/ticket/37984.
