More interesting is the inability to reproduce this outside of fink with...

cd /sw/src/fink.build/cmake-3.3.1-1/cmake-3.3.1
sudo -u fink-bld /bin/sh -ev
./bootstrap --prefix=/sw --docdir=/share/doc/cmake --mandir=/share/man
make -j 8

after running the patch script. Any idea of what else fink might be doing
silently that would be different here?

ps IMHO, this not be something we can do much about short of avoiding
forcing users to default to fink make when it is installed (hence the
request for a make-default like coreutils-defatul as suggested by Alexander
on IRC).
