That might be possible. Indeed I used the one-download big img. 20~30 
mins are a reasonable time, certainly not 3+ hrs. As said, I naively 
believed that simply stopping the optimize phase was not affecting 
the installation, only the pre-binding which can be done on the 
command line.

I'll keep in mind your experience in case the next release shows the 
same problem.
