Hi everyone,

I'm having problems running esound and getting it to work with XMMS. I have
the latest versions of both (from CVS), and when I do "esd &", I get:

using device Built-in audio controller for output:
with sample rate 44100.000000, 2 channels and 32-bit sample
using device Built-in audio controller for input:
with sample rate 44100.000000, 2 channels and 32-bit sample

(and a beep)...

However, when I run 'esdcat' (as mentioned on a number of sites), I get
this:

[localhost:~] jem% esdcat /usr/libexec/config.guess
opening socket, format = 0x00001021 at 44100 Hz
WARNING: sound not available

(and no sound...)

As a result, I'm unable to get any sound from XMMS...

I've also removed /tmp/.esd and restarted esd (as a normal user), but that
hasn't made any difference.

Can anyone help? Is this a problem with esound...? Has anyone else
encountered this?

Thanks!
