Please in the future when you have requests like this, tell us 
exactly what fink version you use. In other words, enter a "fink 
--version" and give us the result.

The "tetex" package is not at all an "alternative" to the other 
tetex-* packages, reather it's sort of a meta-package that makes sure 
you get all required tetex subpackages. So just install that.
if you are using the very latest Fink from CVS, you'll want to 
install bundle-tetex instead.
