included is a mail i write some time ago to this list without getting any reply. it seems that for a short time fink selfupdate-cvs installed fileutils-4.1-4 (intalling a rm) but was then downgraded to fileutils-4.1-3 (installing the rm.gnu)

is this possible?

cheers

In fact, that problem should be gone on 10.1. Also, in fileutils 4.1-3 (which is also in stable) the fileutils package is modified to not install its version of "rm".

So I doubt this is the cause. Of course, maybe Eric has his own version of fileutils installed (e.g. via GNU-darwin); Eric, you should verify that "which rm" gives you /bin/rm

Betreff: fileutils rm

hi all

i'm pretty confused. well, to make it quick:

fileutils-4.1-4 rm has a bug causing it (for example) to crash updating tetex-texmf via fink ('directory not empy' thing whan rm -rf is used)

here is why i'm confused: i soloved the problem by renaming rm to rm_old or somewhat, so system uses default rm. since i was not sure whether /sw/rm was from fileutils i removed fileutils-4.1-4, and yes rm was gone. but whan i tried to reinstall fileutils (i have the built .deb file from 4.1-4) it built and installed 4.1-3 (although i have latest .info via cvs). there the file is named rm.gnu therefore not causing trouble. was fileutils downgraded? anyway, just wanted to report that there are still some problems, as this was discussed a few months ago

thanks

mathias
